Your Fellow Students

One of the best part of Transforming Communities is the people you meet.  They are your colleagues, your sounding board, your support network.  Each week you will have both formal and informal discussions with them.

 End of the semester goodbyes

…my peers and I engaged in student-led discussion groups, in which we attempted to clarify the issues and analyze policies and solutions. In a sense, my class was its own community. As a diverse group consisting of people from different parts of the country and of different cultures, we, too, experienced some conflicts with each other but learned to respect each other’s views.  My classmates and I developed nicknames for ourselves: The Transformers.”

Miriam Choi, Sweet Briar College

You will grow close to them and appreciate all they bring to the program.

“To my fellow transformers, I just wanted to say, before we all head home and in our separate directions, that I am so honored to have had the chance to meet and work with you all this semester. there's not one of you who hasn't changed my life in one way or another. Thank you for making me think, for making me change my mind and most of all, for making me grow as a person.”

Christina Morgan, Lafayette College

You will continue to network with them as you pursue your careers.

“Since our semester together I have realized that you, along with others I have met along the way, are all part of a community of community transformers that (believe it or not) I will always depend on for greater inspiration and support.”

Ian Willey, College of Wooster, Teach for America
